Age groups

Equipment

1 ball per player, 4 cones

Objective

Ball mastery, mirroring and creativity — every player touching a ball for the entire warm-up.

Set-up

Open 25x25 area. Players in pairs, both with a ball, one behind the other.

How it runs

  1. The leader dribbles anywhere and performs moves — stepovers, drag-backs, sole rolls.
  2. The follower copies every move while keeping their own ball under control.
  3. On the coach's call, swap leader and follower.
  4. Finish with a 'showtime' round: each pair shows their best move to the group.

Coaching points

  • Leaders: change speed and direction, don't just go in circles.
  • Followers: watch the leader AND your ball — quick glances between both.
  • Big move, low body — bend the knees so the move is sharp.
  • Celebrate inventiveness; there are no wrong moves here.

Common mistakes

  • Pairs follow in a straight conga line at one pace — demand direction and speed changes.
  • Followers abandon their own ball to watch the trick — both balls matter.
  • Moves get performed at jogging speed only — finish each move with a burst.

Progressions

  • Leader goes hands-free of rules: any trick allowed.
  • Trios with two followers.
  • Followers must mirror with the other foot.

Regressions

  • Slow the pace to walking.
  • Limit to two named moves.
  • Coach leads the whole group first.

Constraints

  • Both players keep their own ball moving at all times.
