Set-up
Players cycle through a three-man combination circuit: player A plays to B, receives a wall pass, plays into C who has overlapped into the channel. Finish with a crossed ball to a forward target. Rotate positions every five minutes. Light effort — sharp movement, not sprint fitness.
Coaching points
- Wall pass: the weight of the return ball must arrive in the striker's stride, not in front or behind
- Overlapping runner: don't announce the overlap too early — time the run off the wall pass
- Finish every rep with a delivery — don't let the drill just stop with a pass
Progressions
- Add a passive defender tracking the overlapping run to make timing more realistic
- Run the same circuit with the opposite full-back overlapping to work both sides
