Set-up
Two corner routines installed. Routine A: inswinger to the near post with a front-post flick-on target (Kyle). Routine B: short corner — taker plays to overlapping CM, who crosses late to back post where two runners arrive. Both routines rehearsed from each side. Passive defenders first, then active defenders added for last 10 minutes.
Coaching points
- Delivery quality is everything — if the ball isn't in a dangerous area, the rest is irrelevant
- Kyle: front post, hold your run, arrive late — don't set off before the ball is struck
- Runners for Routine B: the dummy runner peels to far post, the real runner attacks the six-yard box
Progressions
- Add active defending unit with a designated zonal marker at the near post
- Introduce a third routine: corner played back to the edge for a driven shot — gives the defender a different problem
