Set-up
Set up attacking patterns on both flanks simultaneously. RB/LB combine with winger and CM; winger triggers overlap (full back over) or underlap (winger cuts inside, full back holds). Delivery into a striker at the end. Passive defender on the outside, then semi-active.
Coaching points
- Winger's body shape sells the run before the decision is made
- Full back's timing — don't go too early; wait for the moment the winger commits defender
- Delivery quality: low and driven across goal or cut-back — pick the right one
Progressions
- Add a live full back defender to make the overlap/underlap decision real
- Require the receiving striker to lay off first time to a late arriving CM
