Set-up
Three rehearsed corner routines and two free-kick routines, run from both sides. Navas delivers — his set-piece quality makes him the obvious choice. Each routine is run 4 times at full pace with a 6-player defensive structure to oppose. GKs rotate between goal and outfield group.
Coaching points
- Runners must time their runs to arrive as the ball arrives — not before, not after.
- Dougherty and Humphrey attack the near post; Sowers arrives late to the back post — use their height.
- Delivery must have pace and bend — a floated corner at this level gets punched.
Progressions
- Add a full 11-man defensive structure to simulate a real set-piece environment.
- Introduce a 'decoy' routine: same starting positions, different runner triggers defenders to mark wrong man.
